I’m Sinita Hankins, LMSW, a Christian therapist and the owner of Comforting Hearts. I believe meaningful healing can happen when we finally have a space where we don’t have to perform, pretend, or have all the answers.
I provide online therapy to adults throughout Michigan, including Detroit and the Metro Detroit area, with a special heart for Christian working professionals who are tired of holding everything together and want a space to understand themselves more deeply and experience meaningful healing.
My approach is warm, relational, trauma-informed, and grounded in genuine connection. I love helping people slow down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and make connections between what they’re experiencing today and the experiences, relationships, and patterns that have shaped them.
Faith is also an important part of who I am. When it’s meaningful to you, we can make room for your relationship with God, your questions, your struggles, and your faith as part of the healing process. You don’t have to separate your emotional life from your spiritual life here.
I genuinely care about the people I have the privilege of walking alongside. I believe compassion and honesty can exist in the same space, and I want you to experience both in our work together.
At the heart of what I do is a desire to see people heal, grow, and experience the life God has for them. I want you to know that you are deeply loved by God, even in the places where you may feel wounded, exhausted, confused, or stuck.
My hope is that therapy not only helps you feel better, but gives you room to understand yourself more deeply, grow in your relationship with the Lord, and begin to live with greater freedom and understanding of who God created you to be.
And one little thing you’ll probably notice about me: I almost always have a beverage nearby. Usually coffee or tea, and you can pretty much count on my water bottle being right there too, every session.
I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and earned my Advanced Certification as a Trauma Practitioner in 2016. My work is trauma-informed and faith-integrated, recognizing that our emotional health can be shaped by our thoughts, relationships, life experiences, faith, and the ways we’ve learned to cope with difficult experiences.
In therapy, I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), strength-based, and compassion-focused approaches. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I consider your individual story, needs, strengths, and goals as we determine what may be most helpful for you.
My goal is to help you better understand yourself and what may be happening beneath the surface, while creating space for meaningful healing, growth, and lasting change.
You don’t have to know exactly what you need from therapy before you begin. You can come with your questions, your exhaustion, your faith, and the parts of your story you’re still trying to understand. We can begin there.
